David Bromelkamp is the founder of Allodium Investment Consultants and serves as Chairman of the Board on Allodium’s Board of Managers. He has more than 38 years of investment management consulting experience with both institutional and individual investors.

As an investor advocate, he founded AdvisorSmart® in 2018 and is the author of AdvisorSmart® for the Individual Investor: Your Guide to Selecting a Financial Advisor to Get Better Financial Advice, a nonfiction personal finance book. His book shows individual investors how to seek, find, interview and hire a trusted financial advisor that will fit their unique needs and keep their best interests in mind. David writes articles for Kiplinger about personal finance, financial literacy and fee-only financial advice as well as the AdvisorSmart Blog and the Mister Fiduciary Blog. He is currently researching and writing two new books about financial advice and financial advisors. 

David held the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) Designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies for more than two decades and was one of the founding members of the Minnesota Fiduciary Roundtable, established by graduates of the Center for Fiduciary Studies as an open forum for sharing and promoting fiduciary standards and best practices. He was honored with the 2025 MNCPA Legacy Award by the Minnesota Society of CPAs which recognized his significant contributions to MNCPA programs over his 39 plus years of membership.

David speaks frequently to professional trade associations on the best practices of fiduciary investment management. He has taught continuing professional education courses on fiduciary investment management for the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA) and the Minnesota State Bar Association. He has also taught graduate courses as an adjunct instructor in finance at the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas.

David has served as a director on the boards of both the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants and Catholic Charities of St. Paul & Minneapolis. He is currently a member of the Planned Giving Advisory Council at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota.
